For people wanting to pursue a career in the support and care industry, or even those wanting to build these types of skills. This includes jobs like disability support, aged care, youth work, enrolled nursing, mental health care workers, allied health support etc.
The care and support industry is experiencing rapid growth as the demand for services continues to increase with the aging population, and NDIS support funding. To prepare individuals for this expanding industry this subject offers a broad understanding of psychology and its role in supporting those in need. It also explores various job roles within the care and support industry, including youth workers, aged care workers, disability support workers, mental health support workers, and community support workers. In addition to the theoretical aspects, students will also have access to virtual work experience and exploration of post-school study options within the industry. Students will also gain practical knowledge and certification in mental health first aid and general first aid, which can be useful in crisis situations.
