Course Overview

Students develop an appreciation and awareness of their role as a citizen in the Australian legal system. They study Law and Communities and other topics, which may include, Law, Crime and Punishment, and Young people and the Law. Students consider how diverse groups in society influence, and are influenced by the legal system.

50% – Analytical Response
20% – Inquiry
30% – Presentation

Further Information

Stage 1 Legal Studies is a pathway to Stage 2 Legal Studies. It is recommended that students take Stage 1 Legal Studies before Stage 2 but it is not a prerequisite.
