Pedal Prix
The Uni SA Australian HPV Super Series is an annual championship held primarily in South Australia featuring HPV’s (human powered vehicles) racing around enclosed circuits for a period of either 6 or 24 hours. The largest event of its kind anywhere in the world, it attracts teams from all around Australia.
Every year Marden Senior College competes in Round 2 and 3 of the Australian HPV Super Series at Victoria Park. This involves racing around part of the Clipsal 500 circuit for 6 hours against 190 other teams. These teams can be from primary, middle or secondary schools and tertiary institutions through to private teams.
For the last 2 years the Stage 2 Integrated Learning (Sport & Recreation) class have been involved with the planning, fundraising, promotion and participation of the event for Marden’s team (Maelstrom). This has been directly linked to the Group Activity assessment task and goes towards students SACE.
Students in other lessons are also encouraged to attend and participate in these events. All students involved also gain a Graduate Qualities certificate for their role in the event.
