Course Overview

This course explores the materials in the world around us. Students will learn about the periodic table, atoms and molecules and how they form materials. They will look at nanomaterials and explore forces holding things together and pushing things apart. In second semester, students will learn about mixtures and solutions, and we will explore the energy changes taking place in chemical reactions and how mobile phone and laptop batteries work. Students are recommended to purchase a copy of the Essentials Stage 1 Chemistry Workbook for this course. First semester is a pre-requisite for second semester.
